Health Simulation Lab

Preparing students to meet our nation’s urgent need for nurses and healthcare providers.

How do we prepare healthcare professionals for high-stakes situations when real patients' lives are at stake?

A state-of-the-art Health Simulation Lab featuring high-fidelity technology that creates controlled, immersive learning experiences—exposing students to critical patient conditions and interventions they might not encounter in daily clinical practice.

Marymount's Health Simulation Lab will be a cutting-edge facility featuring three specialized zones designed to prepare undergraduate and graduate students across all health disciplines, including nursing, behavioral health, physical therapy, and beyond.

Zone 1: Immersive Clinical Practice
A realistic inpatient hospital room equipped with three high-fidelity, full-body simulated patient mannequins utilizing advanced computer technology and control systems. These sophisticated simulators respond like real patients, allowing students to practice critical interventions—from cardiac emergencies to complex medication management—in a safe and controlled environment.

Zone 2: Reflection & Growth
A debriefing area with technology to livestream from the simulated hospital room, allowing for performance review, self-reflection, and competency improvement. This is where learning is solidified—where students analyze their decisions, celebrate successes, and identify areas for growth.

Zone 3: Communication & Connection
A virtual reality and patient interview area designed to practice the communication skills essential for patient-centered care, whether in person or via telehealth. Students will master the art of therapeutic communication, patient counseling, and the interpersonal skills that distinguish exceptional healthcare professionals.

Importantly, simulation fosters opportunities for interdisciplinary teamwork—nursing students working with future social workers, physical therapists, and behavioral health specialists—which is essential for providing high-quality, patient-centered care.
